LAST-BOYSCOUT-2021-WINNER

GOREVILLE, IL (WSIL) -- After running for 25 hours straight, Carbondale resident Lindsey Roberts is this year's 'Last Boyscout.'

Roberts is declared the winner, after more than 50 other runners dropped out of the race held at Ferne Clyffe State Park this weekend. It began at 6:40 in the morning Saturday, with runners heading up the steep climb of the park's Boy Scout trail, the race' namesake.

Runners have an hour to complete a four-mile lap, before starting all over again. Racers are eliminated over time until the last man--or in this case -- the last woman is left running.

Last year's winner went for 18 hours, which is just under 75 miles. While, Roberts went for 25 hours, providing her 104 miles and a lot of bragging rights.

This is only the third year for the race and , organizers say it's a niches sport, supported by efforts of local runners who "just love to run."
