It's in honor of her cousin Kendall Glodo, who was born and raised in Union County. He served 25 years in Murphysboro working his way up to police chief and passed away in 2019 from lung cancer.

His wife, Sue Glodo, says this act of kindness is something that he would have wanted.

"It's just very emotional," she explains. "He thought a lot about all of his officers and he was here for 25 years. So yeah, it means a lot."

The outpouring has been so great that several stations to were added to the fundraiser. Extending the gratitude from Murphysboro, Jackson, and Union counties to also include Anna and Jonesboro.
