(WSIL) -- After nearly six months of being closed due to the coronavirus, movie theaters in our region are beginning to reopen.

The AMC University Place theater in Carbondale is set to open on Monday with special early access screenings of the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan film, "Tenet".

The theater was originally scheduled to be opened on September 3rd, but management says the building is safe and ready for guests.

Movie goers must where masks at all times except when consuming food and drink, and auditoriums are limited to 40 percent capacity.

The first showing of "Tenet" begins at 5:00 on Monday.
