MARION, Ill. -- The Lake Egypt Water District has issued a boil water order for customers in a section of their area.
Water customers in the Marion Country Club Subdivision are ordered to boil their water.
The district alerted their customers at 4:07 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), they recommend using bottled water or boiled water for drinking, cooking, food preparation, washing dishes, brushing teeth, mixing baby formula and filling water bowls for pets.
The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.
When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
