Dorena-Hickman Ferry back open as river levels rise

HICKMAN, Ky. (WSIL) -- The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is back in service after being closed for roughly a month due to low river levels.

On November 7, the Dorena-Hickman Ferry is operating on their winter schedule. The last run from the Kentucky landing is at 4:15 p.m. while the last run from the Missouri landing is at 4:30 p.m.

According to the National Water Prediction Service (NWPS), the Mississippi River at Hickman was at 9.1 feet at 11 a.m. on November 7. The river levels rose due to the recent rainfall in the area. On November 4 at 10 a.m. the river level was at -2.68.

The NWPS forecasts the river to continue to rise at Hickman to 13.8 feet on November 9.
