Egyptian Electric awarded $530,000 in grants for new EV stations

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Egyptian Electric Cooperation Association has been awarded $530,000 for DC fast chargers to be installed at three different locations.

This money comes from the Illinois EPA's Driving a Cleaner Illinois grant program.

The three charging locations will be at the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois Airport, SIU’s Transportation Education Center and Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center.

The grant program is part of a state-wide initiative to expand electric vehicle infrastructure which intends to add 1,500 new charging ports across Illinois.
