Electric crews from four other states help Ameren Illinois in restoring power and repairing infrastructure

CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Ameren Illinois workers are making progress with restoring power outages in southern Illinois.

The winter storm caused tens of thousands of outages across the area. Ameren Illinois workers have already restored more than 55,000 outages across the area for their customers.

Most of the Ameren customers who saw damage and outages were in the Jackson, Williamson, Saline and Gallatin county area.

In the southern region, Ameren stated they have repaired or replaced 33 of 51 distribution poles and all of the 18 sub transmission poles which were down. Five substations remain offline. This total is as of 11:11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ameren Illinois states they have roughly 1,500 line workers and other supporting personnel out in southern Illinois restoring power and replacing damaged infrastructure.

Support has come from Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and Tennessee. These crews have helped local Ameren crews.

Ameren Illinois states they anticipate restoring a large amount of remaining outages by the end of the day on Tuesday.

"We thank our customers for their patience during this time. We know this is challenging for everyone but also know that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible," Ameren Illinois stated.
