CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- With the ran moving through the region, fire officials are lifting the burn bans set in from last week.
Last week, much of the region was issued a red flag warning due to high winds and dry vegetation which fueled fires.
Rain on Sunday has helped with dampening the ground which has reduced the threat for fires to spread as easily.
Some area fire departments, including Marion, De Soto Township, Carterville and more, have lifted burn bans.
Be sure to check with your local fire department to ensure the ban is lifted before you start burning.
