Herrin's Hometown Christmas event scheduled for this weekend

HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The City of Herrin is inviting the community to the 2024 Herrin's Hometown Christmas event.

This event promises to be fun for the whole family.

The Herrin's Hometown Christmas event is taking place on Saturday, November 30, starting at 5:15 p.m. and going until 8 p.m.

Here is a breakdown of what you can expect at the event...

5:15 p.m.

  • Santa arrives at the City Tree for Tree Lighting located at the corner of Park Avenue and West Monroe

5:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Activities at Herrin Civic Center
  • Meet Santa on Stage
  • Christmas Festival with Games/Prizes
  • Chris Egelston - Magical Fun Show
  • Balloonatic RN- Balloon Artist
  • Letters to Santa Mailbox
  • Horse-drawn Carriage Rides from the corner of 16th Street and West Cherry Street - Sponsored by: Country Financial, Rhiannon Storm and Louie's P&R. Julie and Aaron Christ
  • Various food trucks will be set up for your enjoyment

A donation of canned food items are accepted at one of the drop-off points as well. Those donations will go to the Herrin Food Pantry.
