CARBONDALE (WSIL)--While the number of new business applications has cooled a bit since last summer, there are still more applications than a year ago when the pandemic began.
Some businesses boomed over the last year, one of those businesses is Pure Pet in Carbondale.
Pure Pet is a store that sells healthy foods and toys for pets.
Over the past year, Pure Pet has decided to expand to another store in Marion.
One of the owners of Pure Pet, Jay Webb, said that the way the economy is turning--makes them hopeful for their future business.
"And we don't think that there's a better time, ever, to open up the second location in Marion, because of businesses opening up and the economy moving forward. And we look very forward to the expansion," said Webb.
The expansion will be on the west side of Marion and should open late this summer.
According to Yelp, new restaurant and food businesses are down 18% from the previous year, but food delivery services were up 128%.
