MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- The City of Marion has updated its fireworks regulations to align with state guidelines. The new ordinance, passed on March 25, 2025, introduces significant changes for local residents.

Consumer fireworks are now prohibited throughout Marion. However, novelty fireworks such as sparklers and party poppers remain legal.

Licensed pyrotechnic professionals can still conduct firework displays. They must secure an approved display permit from the Marion Fire Department.

Residents are encouraged to be mindful of neighbors, especially those with non-traditional work hours, medical conditions, or pets sensitive to loud noises.
