(KTIV) -- Walmart is to its stores' policies with the hope to encourage social distancing amongst its customers.
Walmart says in order to promote health, safety and consistency for their employees as well as their customers, they will limit the number of people who can be in a store at one time.
This new policy goes into effect on Saturday, April 4 and will not allow any more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at a given time.
This means a Walmart will only allow in about 20% of its store's capacity.

The company says it will manage this restriction by marking a queue at a single-entry door and directing arriving customers there. From that entrance, customers will be admitted one-by-one and counted.
Once a store reaches its capacity, customers will be admitted inside on a 1-out-1-in basis.
Walmart also plans to institute a one-way movement through aisles starting next week in a number of stores, using floor markers and direction from associates.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, Walmart says it will continue to listen to advice from medical experts, associates and customers, and consider the best ways to serve people while helping slow the spread of the virus.
