MT. VERNON, Ill. -- A 22-year-old man is in jail after a pursuit in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a deputy was trying to stop a white 2021 Chevy Malibu speeding along IL Highway 15 near N. Dartmouth Lane in Mt. Vernon at 4:54 p.m. on July 30.
The sheriff's office said a pursuit started and the Malibu drove on several streets, including on Liberty Road, Log Cabin Lane, Lynchberg Road and to the intersection at Opdyke Lane.
The Malibu and the deputy's squad truck then reportedly crashed off the road. Neither the driver of the Malibu or the deputy were injured.
Brendan T. Frazier, 22 of Bluford, was taken into custody after the crash.
The deputy's truck was able to drive away from the scene. Frazier was then taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center. The Malibu was towed from the crash site.
Frazier faces eight total charges, including Aggravated Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, Felony Driving While License Suspended and Reckless Driving.
