PADUCAH, Ky. -- A 54-year-old man was taken to jail after he is alleged to have ran from police and in possession of drugs.

Paducah Police Department said an officer tried to stop a man while he was riding his bicycle without a light at 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, in the 1600-block of Kentucky Avenue.

The 54-year-old then ran away from police by climbing a nearby ladder to the roof of a building. The man then jumped to another roof of a nearby building while ignoring order from authorities, police said.

Moments later, the suspect then jumped off the roof again, however, officers then arrested him on the ground.

The man was identified as Ervin Hunter of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

While on the ground, officers searched the man. Police said they found a pipe and two rocks suspected to be cocaine.

Hunter faces charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of local ordinances.

Hunter was taken to the Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital, then taken to McCracken County Regional Jail.
