METROPOLIS, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man found sleeping in his car in Metropolis was arrested after police said he was wanted on a warrant for theft against the elderly and dependent elderly abuse.

The Metropolis Police Department said one of their sergeants saw a vehicle at a rest area on October 14, and ran the Iowa registration plate through their system.

Police said the National Crime Information Center showed the owner of the vehicle was Franklin C. White, 63 of Marion, Iowa.

White was wanted on a warrant out of Linn County, Iowa, for felony theft against the elderly and dependent elderly abuse, police detailed in a report.

Police also said they found White sleeping in the vehicle. They arrested him and took him to the Massac County Detention Center.
