HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) -- After several weeks of delay over who's going to defend a man accused of murder in Saline County, Thursday it was resolved in a Harrisburg courtroom.
Alexander McWilliam, 36, has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Mishealia Meredith, 19, of Harrisburg.

Fed up with delays at an April hearing, Judge Walden Morris told to bring a lawyer with him to court or one would appoint for him.
At his May 6th hearing, Harrisburg Attorney Allen Roe was assigned as his public defender.
The next court appearance won't happened until May 11 where the judge is expected to decide whether there is enough evidence for McWilliam to stand trial.
Meredith was last seen alive March 12 leaving her home on foot. She phoned her mother to tell her she was on her way home but she never arrived. Meredith's body was found March 14 in a farm field near North Pool Road around North Fork Township. Her phone was later found in Eldorado.
McWilliam was arrested in Morganfield, Kentucky after a standoff with police and extradited to Saline County at the end of March.
If convicted faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
