Cairo woman charged with murder

CAIRO, Ill (WSIL) -- Illinois State Police have arrested 66-year-old Mary A. Davis of Cairo for 5 counts of first-degree murder.

Illinois State Police's Division of Criminal Investigation began looking into the homicide of 63-year-old Tomie Edwards of Cairo in May of 2018. Edwards body was pulled from a river in Madisonville, KY on May 23, 2018.

An autopsy determined Edwards died by homicide although ISP did not say how he died.

ISP arrested Davis on August 11, 2020 for concealment of a homicidal death, a Class 3 felony.

On September 10, 2020, the Alexander County State's Attorney's office charged Davis with five additional counts of first-degree murder.
