WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- The sheriff's office in Williamson County reported a recent arrest, connected to an ongoing investigation since 2023 which has reportedly shut down illegal drug sales and also resulted in multiple other arrests across the county.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said their agencies served a search warrant at a home at 107 South Johnson Street in Colp on Sunday, May 5. There they arrested Roquecce "Rocky" Benjamin.
The sheriff's office reported finding drug and drug paraphernalia in the home, including cocaine, cannabis, drug packaging waste, drug paraphernalia, digital scales and $16,241 in US currency.
Benjamin faces charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 1 Felony), Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony), Delivery of Cannabis (30g - 500g), Possession of Cannabis (30g - 500g), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in Motor Vehicle.
The sheriff's office said this arrest and search warrant were part of an ongoing investigation which began in 2023, which has included multiple search warrants, controlled narcotic purchases, numerous arrests, countless interviews and surveillance.
Authorities at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office said during their investigation of illegal narcotic sales throughout Williamson County, drug houses which are believed to be operated by members of the Chicago Street Gang "Gangster Disciples", have been shut down.
Sheriff Jeff Diederich stated, “Today’s Search Warrant is one further step toward disrupting criminal enterprises that poison our youth and destroy families through the distribution of illegal narcotics�.
