Man arrested with gun on the way to kill his wife in Metropolis, police said

METROPOLIS, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man is in jail after police said they arrested him after receiving a 911 call he was going to kill his wife.

The Metropolis Police Department said they received a 911 call on November 25, where a man from Karnak was on his way to kill his wife while she was at her work.

Police said they were told David Doublin, 56 of Karnak, was armed with a gun, so they went to stop him. 

Authorities then pulled over the vehicle Doublin was in and police said they found a gun in his possession. Doublin was then taken to the Massac County Detention Center.

According to online court records, Doublin faces charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of Firearm FOID Expired.

Doublin has a preliminary hearing set for January 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Massac County Courthouse.
