METROPOLIS, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man in Metropolis faces charges after police respond to a report of a domestic violence incident in Metropolis over the weekend. His mother was also arrested after police say she interfered with her son's arrest.
The Metropolis Police Department said on October 26, officers responded to a domestic disturbance report in the 600-block of East 7th Street.
When officers got to the scene, a victim told them the suspect, identified as Sidney Adams, 27 of Metropolis, already left and was intoxicated and playing loud music while they were parked in the driveway earlier, a police report stated.
The police report continued, stating the victim then said she went to check on him and saw him talking with another woman, at which point he then got out of the vehicle and pushed the victim to the ground.
During this time, the victim stated her children were on the porch and witnessed the event, the report stated. Police said the victim then went inside with her children and locked the door.
The police report then said the man broke his way in, shoved the victim, threw a chair and punched and broke the glass in the front door when leaving.
Police said Sidney Adams was found later at his parents home and was arrested for domestic battery and also fought with the officers.
Sheila Adams, 59 of Metropolis, also fought with officers and interfered with the arresting of her son Sidney Adams, police reported.
The police report stated a taser was used on Sidney Adams and he was then taken into custody, while Sheila Adams was also taken into custody.
Police said Sidney Adams was taken to the Massac County Detention Center on charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest while Sheila was released on a notice to appear for charges of obstructing justice and resisting arrest.
