PADUCAH, KY (WSIL) -- Just days after his arrest for DUI and possession of a controlled substance a high school basketball coach in Paducah has resigned.
Carbondale, Illinois police . Investigators say he was impaired and crashed into a light pole but kept driving.
Overstreet was the head high school basketball coach for St. Mary in Paducah. The team was in Carbondale for a holiday basketball tournament.
The statement below was sent to the St. Mary Community this morning:
A letter of resignation was received this morning from Wes Overstreet. He apologizes to the St. Mary Community for his actions. He understands the gravity of the situation and wants only the best for the team and the school system.
Chase Denson is named as the head boys basketball coach for the remainder of the season.
