Sesser man arrested after threatening officers and high speed pursuit, reaching 110+ mph, police report

CHRISTOPHER, Ill. (WSIL) -- A 35-year-old Sesser man faces charges after police said he was involved in a high speed pursuit and threatened officers.

The Christopher Police Department said on December 4, at 9:31 p.m., officers saw a maroon van commit some violations going through the intersection of IL 148 and State Highway 14. Police said the vehicle was going at a high speed and was very reckless.

Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, however, police reported the driver then continued speeding away, passing vehicles and caused a dangerous environment on the road.

Police said the vehicle reached speeds of more than 110 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

The pursuit ended in the area of Illinois State Highway 148 and Park Street where the vehicle stopped and the man taken into custody, police reported. An off-duty officer from a neighboring agency also helped with taking the suspect into custody.

Police added the suspect also make life-threatening comments towards the officers.

The suspect was identified as Brandon Brown, 35 of Sesser.

According to online court records, Brown faces charges of Intimidation/Physical Harm and Fleeing/eluding a peace officer.

Assisting the Christopher Police Department was the Spillertown Police Department, Zeigler Police Department and Central Dispatch of Franklin County.

Brown has a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 18, at 1:30 p.m.
