SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. -- A teacher from a southeast Missouri school was taken to jail after allegations she had relations with a student.
Lindsey Limbaugh, 38, was recently arrested and faces two counts of sexual contact with a student.
Limbaugh is labeled a HS Special Education Teacher on the Scott County R-IV School District's website.
A probable cause affidavit states Limbaugh admitted to having a sexual relationship with the victim. During a recorded statement, there were numerous occasions she met with the victim.
A local southeast Missouri school addressed the public on some alleged misconduct involving a staff member on Tuesday.
The Scott County R-IV School District (Kelly School District) alerted the public and stated they are "aware of the alleged staff misconduct and are cooperating with all agencies to investigate the allegations to reach an appropriate resolution."
The school stated they take safety and the well-being of the students as a top priority in the district and they acted immediately when they were notified of the allegations.
"The district takes all reports of suspected misconduct seriously," the school stated.
They also stated, due to the ongoing investigation, they will not address any specifics in the case, however, they do encourage anyone with information to contact law enforcement or the school district office.
Limbaugh was in court on Wednesday morning in Scott County for an initial appearance.
