VIENNA, Ill. -- A southern Illinois man was found guilty on murder charges Friday afternoon after he was accused of killing his half-brother over a COVID-19 vaccine dispute.
Johnson County State's Attorney Tambra Cain said Larry Cavitt, of Goreville, was found guilty of all three counts after the murder trial in a Johnson County Courtroom on Friday. Cavitt faced two first-degree murder charges and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.
Cavitt was accused of killing his half-brother, Joseph Geyman with a gun following an argument over the COVID-19 vaccine on August 28, 2021 in the 6000-block of Dutchman Lake Road.
In an earlier report,聽Johnson County Sheriff Pete Sopczak said the two men, who lived next door to each other, argued over the COVID-19 vaccine before Cavitt allegedly took out a handgun and shot Geyman in the head.
