HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- Three people were taken into custody in connection to a high speed pursuit through three southern Illinois counties on Saturday.
The Herrin Police Department said they received a 911 call about an attempted burglary to a vehicle in the 1000-block of South 16th Street on January 25.
Officers responded and tried to pull over a suspected vehicle. Police said they saw the suspected driver commit several traffic violations and then a high-speed pursuit took place.
The pursuit started in Herrin and ended up going 22 miles north on Route 148 before Herrin officers terminated the pursuit.
Moments later, Herrin police said deputies in Jefferson County also pursued the suspected vehicle and three males were detained. One of the suspects police stated was 19-year-old Gregory Moore who was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges based from the Herrin Police Department and from Jefferson County.
The vehicle in the incident was recently reported stolen from Cahokia, Illinois.
Assisting the Herrin Police Department in the matter was the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Zeigler Police Department and Christopher Police Department.
