Three Suspects Face Multiple Charges, One Sent to Hospital, After Reported Battery Incident in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- Three people face multiple charges and one person was sent to the hospital after police respond to a battery report in Mt. Vernon.

The Mount Vernon Police Department said first responders from their police department, the Mt. Vernon Fire Department and Litton's Ambulance went out to the 1100-block of South 23rd Street for a report of battery involving three suspects on May 19 at 6:35 p.m.

Once officers got to the scene, they learned the three people who were suspected in the reported incident had left the area. They then started searching the area. Police spotted one person who reportedly started running away from law enforcement.

Police said they caught up to the suspect and took him in custody. This person was identified as Caleb Phillips.

Officers then interviewed witnesses and the victim. The victim was also taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Two other suspects were also arrested. They were identified as Kadin M. Gulley and Jacob Fowler.

Phillips faces charges of Mob Action, Batter and Resisting Arrest.

Gulley and Fowler both face charges of Mob Action, Battery and Intimidation.
