Paducah Shooting Suspects 8.23.2020

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- The McCracken County Sheriff's Office has two people in custody in connection to a double homicide .

Police arrested 23-year old Mykweze Cox, and 21-year old Alexis Graham, both of Texas, about an hour and a half after a shooting at an apartment complex.

A resident at Lone Oak Manor Apartments called 911 at 7:57 p.m. about a group of people at the complex that weren't supposed to be there.

At 8:08 p.m., a neighbor called 911 to report shots fired in the same area. A deputy arrived and discovered two victims inside an apartment.

23-year old Justice Hicks and 31-year old Victor E. Moore, both of Paducah, suffered gunshot wounds. One died at the scene and the other died at an area hospital from his injuries.

Investigators were able to obtain descriptions of two suspects, including the name of one suspect.

At 9:02 p.m., the sheriff's office got a call of a black female matching one of the suspects' descriptions near the area of 500 Columbus Streets, just blocks away from where the shooting occurred.

Deputies, and Paducah Police used K-9 officers to locate Cox and arrested him without incident. Immediately after the arrest, Cox admitted to being the shooter. Police arrested Graham a short time later.

Cox led detectives to the area where he tossed the weapon used in the shooting, a semi-automatic handgun which contained rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

During police questioning, Graham admitted to going with Cox to the apartment to collect a drug debt from the victims. That's where Cox allegedly entered a locked bedroom where a verbal argument ensued.

The victims told them to leave the apartment, Cox told police, but refused unless they collected the debt. Cox said the situation escalated and he fired multiple rounds at both victims.

Investigators found the vehicle Cox and Graham initially arrived in before the shooting. Police believe the suspects were disoriented after leaving the apartment and could not find the vehicle, resulting them in leaving the scene on foot.

Cox faces several charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, first degree burglary, first degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence and felon in possession of a handgun.

Graham faces two counts of complicity to first-degree murder as well as first degree burglary and robbery charges. Both are being held in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
