CHICAGO (WSIL) -- Two Illinois State Police (ISP) Troopers were injured, after their squad car was hit in Chicago Wednesday morning.
According to ISP, the squad car was on a traffic stop with emergency lights on, when the squad car was rear ended by another car that failed to slow down.
The impact of the crash caused the squad car to rear end the vehicle in the initial traffic stop.
Officials say two officers, a field training officer and a probationary trooper, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the squad car was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of both alcohol and drugs, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving while license suspended among other charges.
ISP says the probationary trooper was involved in another rear end crash four days ago involving an intoxicated driver. Both officers have since been released from the hospital.
