FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man called 911 and reported being shot by his wife in rural northern Franklin County on May 19, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said they received the 911 call around 9:05 p.m. on May 19. Deputies arrived at the scene and said they found the victim and reported the suspect had already fled.

The sheriff's office said Clarissa R. Schilly, 49 of Mount Vernon, was identified as the suspect and was later located by a Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff during a traffic stop. Franklin County Deputies and Illinois State Troopers responded, and Schilly was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities also said the male victim was taken to Franklin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to online court records, Schilly was charged with Aggravated Battery-Use of Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. She was also wanted on a Failure to Appear Warrant for Theft.

Schilly was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
