* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

- At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 24.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Sunday evening and continue falling to 17.5 feet

HERRIN, Ill. -- Herrinfesta Italiana will be under new leadership in 2025.

Cris Trapani is stepping down as president of the long-running community festival.

Trapani has spearheaded after taking over for for Bob Ferrari 27 years ago.

Trapani's efforts and the engagement of other community volunteers has helped grow the festival into one of the area's premier family-oriented events.

Trapani is stepping down as president to enjoy more time with his family.

The Herrinfesta Italiana committee has taken this opportunity to restructure and appoint new leadership.

Longtime Vice President Joey Helleny, who has also been instrumental in the festival's success, will now share co-chair honors with Kelly Green, who has served as Treasurer.

The committee has declared its confidence in Helleny and Green's abilities to continue the legacy of excellence and community spirit that has defined the festival for decades.

The committee has expressed its gratitude to Cris Trapani for his years of extraordinary service and leadership.
