Crosswalk Announces Energy Assistance Program

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. -- The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has announced that Crosswalk Community Action Agency will be administering the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for Franklin, Jefferson and Williamson Counties.

The West Frankfort based agency is now taking applications. 

Priority Group clients can go to the to schedule a phone appointment for LIHEAP.

The Priority Group includes: elderly people (60+), disabled individuals, households with children 5 and under, households that are disconnected, households moving into a new address and have bad debt, and households that are at or below 25% on a delivered fuel and can't get a delivery on their own.

LIHEAP provides financial assistance to eligible households to help pay a portion of their home energy services.

The program begins October 1 and continues until August 15, 2025, or until funding runs out.

Applications will be accepted on a first-com, first served basis.
