INA, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- and Deaconess Illinois have teamed up for a big announcement.

is donating $250,000 to the Rend Lake College Foundation for its "The Game Plan" campaign. This campaign comes in an effort to renovate and expand the gymnasium and athletic facilities.

The donation that Deaconess Illinois made will go to a new athletic training room. William Davis, Illinois Regional President at Deaconess Illinois, says it about creating a long-term investment and partnership.

"We at Deaconess Illinois are immensely proud to unveil the newly renovated Deaconess Illinois Athletic Training Room at Rend Lake College," Davis explains. "This sponsorship embodies our core beliefs hat investing in community health is both a responsibility and a privilege."

It's been more than 50 years since the gym has undergone any significant renovations. The college says, in that time, many talented players and coaches have rallied to bring wins on and off the court.

In addition to the athletic accomplishments the gym has facilitated, it also brought in leader that taught character development, teamwork and academic importance.

Tim Wills, Health and Physical Education Professor and RLC Men's Basketball Head Coach believes, this partnership goes beyond the monetary donation.

"This partnership not only provides an athletic trainer who is on our campus to prevent and treat sports injuries, Wills says, "But it also gives us access to sports medicine physicians to evaluate, diagnose and treat injuries that need more advanced care."

The planned Banterra Sports Complex at Rend Lake College will include the existing James "Hummer" Waugh Gymnasium as well as a new addition to the space. Construction is set to begin this fall.
