CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- School officials held a public event to welcome everyone to see their newly constructed $3 million Carbondale Community High School Career and Technical Education wing.
The open house and ribbon cutting event also featured guided tours of the facility, with hands-on demonstrations which showcase the programs they offer.
The new 10,000 square foot venue has new cutting-edge technology, which helps students in career paths which include health sciences, welding, cosmetology and other skilled trades.
"Our Career Open House is fantastic opportunity for students, parents, and community members to see firsthand the incredible resources and programs we offer," Superintendent Daniel Booth said. "With our new facilities and expanded programs, we're preparing students for success in high-demand careers that fit the interests of today's students."
Booth says they have received lots of positive feedback and students can take what they learn here to jump start their career and also allows them to better prepare for further education and developing their skills.
鈥淥ur mission here at CCHS is to provide our students with a personal pathway to a productive future. This space allows us to do that. Our students have the opportunity to have hands on experience, they have an experience to not only work on what they want to do for a career, but also if they want to go on to John A. Logan to a community college and get more certificates, they鈥檙e able to learn those skills right here.鈥
Students are already three months into their new courses with utilizing the new state-of-the-art venue.
