HARRISBURG (WSIL) -- A Harrisburg principal is one of six nominees chosen statewide for a prestigious school leadership award.
According to its , the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership honors "exemplary performance in school leadership by a principal or head of school who has had a significant and sustained positive impact on the school, created a culture of inclusivity, and delivered dramatic student growth."
East Side Principal Natalie Fry is one of this year's finalists.

"She has rejuvenated a superintendent who's been in this business for 30 years and made him realize there's a lot of things he needs to improve," said Gauch.
"I just know so many professionals in education and in this field that I wish I can give out multiple Golden Apple Awards to, not only people in Harrisburg, but in the surrounding southern Illinois," said Fry.
