CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) -- Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Carbondale prepares for its annual back-to-school event. It will be a drive-thru giveaway this year.
The free school supply drive-thru will be Saturday, August 7, from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Pastor Christopher Swims said this is the biggest year the ministry has had to date. They have collected about 1,500 backpacks to give out to kindergarten through high school age. There will also be a mobile vaccine clinic available offering Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines.
