Senator Dale Fowler announces Summer Reading Program

HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) -- State Sen. Dale Fowler is inviting students in the 59th Senate District to join his 2025 Summer Reading Program. The initiative aims to encourage young students to read during their summer break.

“This is a great way to encourage kids to keep learning over the summer while having fun and using their imagination,� Fowler said. “I hope kids throughout the 59th District embrace this summer reading challenge and that it becomes a fun and rewarding experience for everyone who decides to participate.�

Summer reading form

The program is open to students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. Participants must read eight books by August 8, 2025, to complete the challenge.

After completing the reading, students need to fill out a summer reading form. The form should be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to Fowler’s office.
