CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The SIU School of Law celebrated a decade of excellence during its 10th annual Women in Leadership Workshop.
Lawyers, judges and law professors taught seminars to improve communication, management and leadership skills.
Since 2010, the number of women in the law school rose from 37% to 52%.
The interim dean, Cindy Buys, said these workshops will help law students with their careers.
"There are a lot of studies that show that show that if you have a diverse management team, they're better at decision making, that they bring different perspectives and ideas to the table," she said.
Judge and alumna Nancy Rosenstengel will be the keynote speaker at the networking dinner Friday night.
She's the first female district judge to serve in the southern district of Illinois.
