CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Thousands of students will walk across the stage on Saturday and receive degrees as part of commencement exercises held across Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky.
Southern Illinois University will hand out degrees and certificates to 1,971 students as part of the Spring Commencement ceremonies starting on May 9.
Of the 1,971 degrees, this includes 1,299 candidates for bachelor’s degrees, 419 candidates for master’s degrees, 100 candidates for doctoral degrees, 71 law degree candidates, 81 candidates for associate degrees and three candidates � two of whom are also completing degrees � for undergraduate certificates.
The SIU Commencement will first be held with the SIU Simmons Law School at Shryock Auditorium on Friday. There will then be two ceremonies which take place at the Banterra Center on May 10.
Southeast Missouri State University is also holding their Spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday as well. 1,565 students will be walking across the stage to receive their degrees. This includes 963 Undergraduates, 573 Master's and 29 Specialist degrees. There will also be a number who graduate with Honors, including 171 Cum Laude, 129 Magna Cum Laude, 129 Summa Cum Laude and 13 Jane Stephens Honors Program recipients.
There will also be 1,654 students receiving degrees at Murray State University on Saturday. The degree applicants are from 38 states and 16 countries.
The ceremonies will be held in the CFSB Center. There will be two programs take place. One of the programs starts at 9 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m.
