.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and will continue.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 22.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday morning and continue falling to 14.0 feet Friday,
April 25.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Fairfield man found dead

CARMI, IL (WSIL) -- The Fairfield Police Department has requested the Illinois State Police to conduct a death investigation in Fairfield, IL.

A 28 year-old male was found dead near the 600 block of Southeast 4th Street on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at approximately 8 a.m.

An autopsy has not been performed yet.

The investigation is still ongoing.
