WEST FRANKFORT (WSIL) -- After nearly 15 years, a fallen soldier's name is now displayed outside the West Frankfort Veterans' Military Museum.
"August the 29th of 2006, he passed away, he was killed by a roadside bomb."
Anna Williams, of West Frankfort, can now visit her son, Matthew Vosbein's, memorial at the West Frankfort Veterans' Military Museum.
"I have tried since right after he died to try to get his name up here, and never got any response from anybody. They acted like they didn't know nothing."
That was until she found a new contact at the museum, Danny Loeh.
He told Williams, they could make it happen. "Got ahold of Danny, within a few weeks, and he got everything done."
"I'm here to help. He earned his spot since 2006. 14 years, but he earned it," said Loeh.
Williams says it finally feels like her son has a resting place. "He's home, he's where he belongs. Even though he's buried in a cemetery here, he's home, he's with his men."
"He's home now, that's what I keep telling Anna. He's home officially now," said Loeh.
Loeh says Vosbein's name is the first of the Iraq War Veterans to be etched in the memorial.
"Now we have Iraq here, Iraqi freedom in here, or soldier here."
"It makes me sad, but it makes me proud too, because he did what he wanted to do, since he was little, and I'm talking little. He always wanted to be an Army man," said Williams.
Loeh added, "This gentleman here gave his life for this country. Gave his life for your freedoms. Honor him."
