WSIL (Carterville) -- It's the driest morning we've seen since Tuesday for roughly half the region. Patchy fog is lingering along with partly cloudy skies. As we head into the rest of our morning, clouds will clear and we'll see mostly sunny skies by lunchtime.Â

If you have plans these evening just be aware it'll be warm, especially for this time of the year. Highs today will be in the mid 80s with a heat index a few degrees higher. No jacket needed for tonight's Friday Night Lights.

Hopefully you haven't covered the pool yet because it'll feel like August as we head into October this weekend. We'll be even warmer tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s.

For the fellow pumpkin spice lovers like myself, there is a 'cooler' light at the end of this hot tunnel. A fairly strong cold front will sweep the region towards the end of next week, which could also bring the next round of showers and storms.Â
