FEMA set to close in-person services in Washington County, Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (WSIL) -- Thursday, October 24, 2024, is the last day Washington County, Illinois residents impacted by the July floodwaters, will be able to get in-person services. Tuesday morning, FEMA announced they will conclude their in-person services at Kaskaskia College Extension Center on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

In total, FEMA will close 4 four State Disaster Recovery Centers this week. Officials with the agency do want people to know that help will still be available. They say, they will remain in contact with county leaders and emergency managers to address services when needed. They state, they are committed to the recovery and continued support of homeowners and renters impacted by the July 13 - 16 storms.

FEMA says they want residents to know that help is still available within the designated counties. Any Illinois residents within those designated counties can speak to a specialist by calling their helpline at: 1-800-624-3362. Officials will also continue to accept applications online at:
