POPLAR BLUFF, MO (WSIL) -- The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will offer several opportunities for Veterans to obtain free flu vaccinations at its 7 facilities in September and October.

A walk-in vaccination clinic in the Poplar Bluff campus lobby, located at 1500 N. Westwood Blvd., is open 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, now through November 15.

Additionally, a drive-thru clinic will be held at the facility’s north entrance from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. weekdays between September 23 through October 4.

The drive-thru option makes the process easy for Veterans and saves them time, according to Diane Stark, interim Veterans influenza campaign coordinator.

“Drive thru and fight the flu, said Stark. “We’re quick and convenient, so come see us.

Flu shot clinics also are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at VA outpatient clinics in the following locations:

  • October 11 in Pocahontas, 300 Camp Rd.
  • October 17 in West Plains, 1801 East State Route K
  • October 18 in Sikeston, 903 South Kingshighway
  • October 18 in Farmington, 1580 West Columbia St.
  • October 18 in Paragould, 2420 Linwood Dr., Suite 3

Additionally, the Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center will offer flu vaccinations at a drive-thru clinic from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. October 18 during its annual Fall Freedom Festival.

Veterans are asked to bring their VA health care identification card to the clinics.

Any Veteran wishing to receive an updated COVID-19 or other vaccination on the same day may do so. However, it's recommends they get their flu shot first, then go to their primary care provider for any additional vaccines.

Veterans unable to attend one of the flu shot clinics can receive their vaccination at their next primary care appointment, or they may get it at no cost from a community provider by showing their ID card. VA-approved, in-network providers can be found online at www/.
