JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (WSIL) â€ On Tuesday, May 20th, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed to assist tornado victims with obtaining important medications.Â
The deadly tornadoes that swept through the state caused major destruction to areas like Scott County and St. Louis. In many cases, residents have now lost many important documents, like medical records.Â
Gov. Kehoe says Executive Order 25-24 will apply to help tornado victims whose prescriptions and medical records were lost or damaged, or whose original prescribing physicians are unavailable, by loosening some rules medical professionals have to follow.Â
In a statement, Governor Kehoe says, "This executive order grants the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the State Board of Pharmacy discretionary authority to temporarily waive or suspend rules and regulations which will allow medical professionals to better assist those affected by storms. We thank the medical professionals across our state who are playing a critical role in helping Missouri communities recover."
The executive order is expected to last until June 30th.
