News 3 WSIL spoke to a physician who helps train residents in the SIU Medicine program.
Dr. Kyaw Naing been a part of the program for more than a decade. He says it's been an honor to teach future doctors and nurses.
He tells us being recognized for his profession especially during the pandemic makes him proud.
"The public as well as the community people in southern Illinois to appreciate what we do means a lot to us because…that means we need to keep on providing high quality care," he said.
