(WSIL) -- A local health department is making sure you are informed about Colorectal cancer.
The ľĹÓÎĚĺÓý Seven Health Department is hosting a "Strollin' through the Colon" event September 18th in Golconda.
It may sound funny, but Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and third in women. Early detection is key to beating this type of cancer. This event helps people learn more about colon cancer prevention.
"The southern part of the state especially the southern seven counties has a very high rate of colon cancer deaths and again prevention is key. So this just proves and presents colon cancer prevention in a very fun and light-hearted way. So if you've ever wanted to stroll through a 20 foot inflatable colon now is your chance." said Shawnna Rhine, Outreach Coordinator of ľĹÓÎĚĺÓý 7 Health Dept.
"Strollin' Through the Colon" takes place from 9 to 11 am on September 18th in Golconda. To learn more about colorectal cancer prevention contact the .
