Heavy rainfall could bring localized flooding

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) â€� Tuesday's severe early morning storms, paired with more anticipated heavy rainfall, are prompting the National Weather Service to issue warnings on localized flooding.Ìý

The NWS predicts rain accumulation of 1 inch to 1.5 inches in areas like Cape Girardeau, Paducah, Mt. Vernon, and Farmington.Ìý

Other areas, like Marion, Ill., and Murray, Ky., could see rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2 inches.Ìý

The NWS says flooding is likely in low-lying areas and can trigger flash floods for creeks and small rivers.Ìý

Officials are warning campers to stay alert for the possibility of seeking higher ground.
