MT. VERNON, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- More than 800 veterans went home with extra groceries.
A drive-thru giveaway took place at Roadhouse Harley Davidson Saturday morning where each person went home with 35 pounds worth of fresh meat, produce, and dairy.
The event is in honor of Lance Corporal Kyle Price, a local marine who died in 2006 while serving in Iraq.
His foundation held a giveaway last month and is planning to do another on April 24th, which will also be at Roadhouse Harley Davidson from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The foundation also has plans to have a memorial ride that day following the food distribution.
The foundations says these events are meant to help those still struggling from the impacts of the pandemic. Cusumano and Sons and United Way of South Central Illinios also help to make them possible.
