...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.Very heavy rainfall ranging from 6 to 9 inches fell across the
Big Muddy River basin over the past week. This will keep river levels
elevated over at least the next week. Major flooding is forecast
to develop at Murphysboro this week with moderate flooding at
Plumfield. Crests are expected on Wednesday at both locations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

- At 11:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 27.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 33.0
feet early Wednesday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT CDT /1 AM EDT/ TONIGHT TO
9 AM CDT /10 AM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 to 30 degrees
expected over most of the region. Everyone should see a 32 degree
low or close to it.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From midnight CDT /1 AM EDT/ tonight to 9 AM CDT /10 AM
EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other
sensitive vegetation.

Illinois representatives adopt resolution to reopen IDES offices

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- The House adopted a Saturday demanding the Illinois Department of Employment Security reopen their offices immediately.

Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) explained they reached out to the department countless times in the past asking them to reopen. IDES officials sent them a letter saying they are more productive for Illinois residents when they keep their doors closed.

“It is absolutely unacceptable for this governor, the director of this department to continue to keep these offices closed,� said Sosnowski. “The unemployment office needs to open for the residents of the state of Illinois right now.�

Still, Democrats were concerned where funding would come from to reopen these buildings. Rep. Lashawn Ford (D-Chicago) noted that Gov. JB Pritzker has asked for funding so the offices can open properly.

“It seems to me that some representatives, regardless to the party that they are affiliated with, think that this state runs just on air,� said Ford. “It actually takes money, it actually takes revenue.�

However, some Republicans also suggested COVID-19 federal relief dollars could help reopen the offices.

“IDES is a federal program,� said Mike Murphy (R-Springfield). �100% of their operations comes from the federal government.�

The House adopted the resolution after a unanimous vote.
