...Funnel clouds will be possible through this afternoon...

There have been reports of funnel clouds today. These funnels
are developing underneath a few showers that are moving across the
area. Underneath these showers...spinning columns of air that
look like tornadoes may continue to develop. These funnels usually
are very brief and rarely touch the ground. If these funnels do
touch down...they most likely will not cause damage to life or
property.

These funnels are due to cooler air aloft...warm moist air near
the ground...and are usually in association with a strong area of
low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to little
or no wind shear...they are usually weak and very brief.

Illinois extends driver's license, ID card expiration dates through March 2022

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WREX) � Drivers around the state have a longer time to renew their driver's licenses and ID cards. 

The Secretary of State's Office has extended the deadline an additional three months—from Jan. 1, 2022 to March 31, 2022.

“During the pandemic, my office has continued to serve the public, including face-to-face transactions, in a safe and responsible manner,� said White. “This extension is necessary as my office continues to address the heavy customer volume caused by the COVID-19 pandemic through expanded online services and the introduction of appointments at select Driver Services facilities.�

This extension does not apply to commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and CDL learner’s permits.
